Beautiful circular route around the lake and can be easily connected to Lake Hainer via the Pleiße cycle path. Unfortunately, the Pleiße cycle path is currently closed on this section, as the new Moveon energy park is being built on the cycle path.

The Bockwitz nature reserve is a structurally rich biotope mosaic and is therefore one of the most valuable areas of the post-mining landscape. With an area of around 545 hectares, it is also one of the largest nature reserves in Saxony. However, not only the size makes this area an important locality, but also its record-breaking biodiversity. Thanks to the diverse landscape, characterized by residual lakes, small bodies of water, swamp zones, grass and herb meadows, 400 different plant species grow here alone. But 180 bird species, 12 amphibian species, 4 reptile species, 31 dragonfly species and 20 grasshopper species were also counted. Rarely is there such a great variety of species as in this place.
