Very nice path through the forest

Great Wladwege with soft forest floor, typical of the Palatinate Forest.

The ring wall has a total length of 2.5 km and encloses an area of 26 ha. It is about 700 m from the northernmost point to the southernmost corner, and about 600 m from the westernmost to the easternmost corner. The arc extends west through north to east, the chord forming a nearly perpendicular point to the south. Where the bow and string meet in the east at the lowest point of the complex (260 m), there was a 7 m wide gate with a 9 m long gate lane, which today still has two "roadways" separated by a row of stones. It was probably provided with a wooden superstructure.

The rock formation and the seating areas carved into the rock invite you to linger.

The word "Kanapee" is hardly read on hiking maps. But the name "Wilhelmshöh" is: This lettering can also be found on the stone "sofa backrest" of the sofa. The forest at this location and large parts of it belonged to the private citizen Wilhelm Retzer (died 1856) in the 19th century. Due to the beautiful view (now unfortunately overgrown), he liked this place so much that he had his name carved into the sofa in the lettering "Wilhelmshöh". It was built by Wilhelm Retzer and named after his wife Laura.
