"Fern Oak on the Gänsemarkt This is a rare, accidentally grown variety (mutation) of the native English oak (Ouercus ruhur). Its sinuous, slit leaves are typical. The occurrence of a fern oak was first documented in 1855 in southern Germany and in 1864 in France. It cannot be propagated by seed. Around 1920, a fern oak cutting was grafted onto the English oak at this location. The graft bulge is still visible. Coming from Neubukow, you walk directly past the fish ladder. A display board provides various information. Diagonally opposite, the path leads along the edge of the field to the beautiful Hellbachtal.

When walking around the Neuklostersee there are many places from which you can enjoy a beautiful view over the entire lake.

Behind the old water mill you come to the Hellbach, to which a beautifully designed fish ladder leads. An interesting fish ladder paves the way for the fish upstream.

A fish ladder was built next to the mill pond so that the fish can move upstream.

a short leisurely walk around the lake is definitely worth recommending when the weather is nice. You can experience and enjoy nature and, if you like, you can also swim.

Here, on the so-called Wallberg, a Slavic castle was built in 1219 and expanded into a protective castle in 1230/31. Up to four ramparts surrounded the castle on this 50m high hill. Only the ramparts remain of the castle, which was demolished in the 17th century after it had fallen into disrepair. The whereabouts of the stones are unknown. On the hill is now the so-called Thingplatz, a fairground. See Figure 1 for more details about the castle.

The Neuklostersee with its approx. 12 kilometers can be wonderfully circumnavigated in approx. 2.5 hours.
