The impressive circular hiking trail, about 3.5 km long, through the quince reserve, which was opened to nature tourists in 2007, begins about 50 meters behind our quince shop. 12 themed boards along the route provide interesting and worth knowing details about an almost forgotten type of fruit - the quince. With 100-year-old trees, the oldest fruit-growing quince trees in Germany are located in the Holzmorgen district, which also have their roots between agricultural plots whose plot structure is almost unchanged and dates back to a historical fiefdom of the Carthusian monastery in Astheim in the 18th century. Especially in the backdrop of traditional fruit growing, the old Astheim quince stocks can showcase their growing value.
