Beautiful circular tour from the Winterleitenhütte up and back over the Lavantsee with a wonderful panoramic view at the summit.

In the old mining area in the Lichtengraben there is the so-called gold hole, a cave at least largely created by nature. However, the activities of medieval and early modern miners left clear traces. The gold mines in the Lichtengraben are said to have been extraordinarily productive centuries ago. Towards the end of the 16th and beginning of the 17th century, however, the gold blessing was largely exhausted. Over the course of time, the gold hole has repeatedly served as a shelter and retreat for people in emergencies. Just a few decades ago there lived a woman who shared her unusual dwelling with a cow, goat and pigs. Knowing the mysteries of nature, the hermit was widely known.

There is a beautiful view of the Zirbitzkogel and down into the Lavant valley. You can also see the charcoal hut. unfortunately there is no summit book.

Very nice hiking destination, which can be quite challenging in the snowy months. When the weather is nice, a great view of the Mur and Lavant valleys; And a view that shows Styria from a perspective that is foreign to East Styrians ;) The weather is difficult to assess and in mid-August can change quickly between rain and sunshine several times. Hood over 2000m is always good.
