The Hollbruck Lakes lie at an elevation of approximately 2,200 to 2,300 meters. They're not a dramatic postcard scene, but rather a place for lovers of the quiet, unpretentious beauty of the Alps. Anyone passing them on a hike should take time for a break – their special atmosphere makes them a true highlight of the region.

Anyone looking out over the Sexten Dolomites from the Carnic Ridge will experience one of the most impressive landscapes in the Eastern Alps. The contrast between the green alpine pastures along the high trail and the rugged rock faces of the Dolomites is striking – and that's precisely what makes this place so special: You're standing in the Carnic Alps and looking directly into the heart of the Dolomites.

Perfect view and quiet to relax

On the northern shore of the Hochgräntensee (2534 m) is the highest war cemetery in Central Europe.

A short but nice climb. It zigzags up over roots and stones. Once you reach the first platform, if the wind is right, you can stand in the spray of the waterfall and cool off. Then you continue up to the hut via another platform.

Some passages between the Arnese and Demut mountains are truly unique. You pass under or very close to rocks, the path is not wide and you will feel like you are pedaling in space. In some places you may have to get off and push the bike, but the effort is fully rewarded by an unparalleled view.
