이 호수는 한때 석고 광산의 노천 채굴장이었으며, 밤사이 물이 유입되어 호수가 형성되었습니다.[2] 그 이후로 호수는 방해받지 않고 발전할 수 있었으며, 예를 들어 토종 어종인 빨간눈물고기뿐만 아니라 금붕어, 비단잉어, 해바라기물고기와 같은 도입된 물고기들도 서식하고 있습니다. 호숫가에는 갈대와 부들이 늘어서 있으며, 수면은 대부분 물달개비로 덮여 있습니다.
