Among the old walls and rocks, you'll find cozy spots for a shady break. Ideal as a short, exciting detour on hiking or running routes in the Vienna Woods.

The Hermesvilla in the Lainz Tiergarten is an elegant, historic palace that once served as a summer residence for Empress Elisabeth. The ruins of Johannstein Castle are located near Sparbach in Lower Austria (Austria), around eight kilometers west of Mödling at around 450 m above sea level. It is not certain when the hilltop castle was built. It was first given the name "ruin". Since 1809, the ruins and the Sparbach zoo have belonged to the Liechtenstein family. Between 1995 and 2000, the remaining masonry was fundamentally secured and restored. Today, the ruins are almost completely surrounded by the surrounding forest. Access is only possible during the zoo's opening hours.
