At 18,380ft, Khardung La is one of the highest motorable roads in the world. The climb from Leh Market to the top is 38km. You can refuel at South Pullu which is 14km before the summit.

The 5,200 meter high pass is the pinnacle of lonely trekking in the Markha Valley. Technically easy, the hiker has to deal with the altitude in particular. The highest peak of the Ladakh Range, the 6,400 meter high Kang Yatse with its glaciers, dominates the scenery. But the six-thousander Dzo Jongo is also clearly visible. The pass connects the Markha with the Indus Valley.

Breathtaking views at around 5300 m altitude. Kiki Soso Laghello (or something like that) is called here. Translated this means "We are closest to God at the pass".
