Kyzyl-Art, Kyzylarth (Kyrgyz: Kyzyl-Art; Tajik: Surkhkotal) is a mountain pass in the Zaalai Range on the Pamir Highway on the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The Osh-Khorog motorway passes through the pass. The pass is 4,280 metres above sea level.

Even in summer, it can be cold at the top. It may snow.

The road, coming from the south side, had also been affected by a landslide on the north side, but bulldozers have restored it. The road is wide, and the surface conditions improve as you descend. Be careful on some sections with sharp protruding rocks that could damage your tires. On the way down, there is no shelter until the old van indicated by Tristanbogaard.

This very high pass (3,175 m) is located on the mountain road that connects Bishkek with Osh. It is one of the most beautiful mountain passes in Kyrgyzstan and is easily accessible by car. The great thing about Ala Bel is that it lies above two beautiful valleys and the whole panorama there is a real feast for the eyes. From one side of the pass you can admire the Chichkan Valley and from the other side you can see the Susamir Valley.

Beware of the difficulty to cross the last 300m of the southern side, the road is missing. It's possible to use a very steep and slippery hiking path used by shepherds, it took me 3h of pain to cross the last part up

A nice but steep road up to a monument to Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin. The view is awesome!

A lot of unrideable parts and landslides. With an heavy loaded bike it was hours of hike a bike. At the last 100 meters of elevation take the steep but newer path. The old road is full of landslides and parts are not really existing anymore.

Nearly entirely ridable gravel track that horses or sheep may be present on. Not too steep when climbing, probably a great downhill ride!

A huge climb over the old pass that was meant to connect Almaty and Cholpon Ata. The road is broken in many places. An epic endeavour.
