Very challenging for inexperienced people, but it's worth it.

Especially in early summer it is wonderfully quiet here and you can enjoy the wonderful surroundings undisturbed.

The Berglisee (2,115 m) above the Ischgl hamlet of Mathon is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Tyrol. The small lake captivates with its incredible color and idyllic surroundings.

The border between Switzerland (Canton of Graubünden) and Austria (State of Tyrol) runs somewhat unexpectedly through the Fimbatal. A sign indicates that the external border of the European Union is also located here. A border stone can be seen next to the path.

The Berglisee is simply a dreamy place. It is picture-perfect and is painted in the most beautiful blue, surrounded by green trees and with a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains. There are several benches and barbecue areas on the shore. A little way below the lake there is an alpine pasture (not managed) where you can fill up your water supply at a spring.

If you really want to go there by bike, take the easier route that doesn't go past the bunker. Better on foot!

The climb is definitely worth it. Very tiring, but you will be rewarded with a great view. We did the tour from Mutzkopf mountain station, across the green and black lake.
