There's hardly a more fitting name for a trail. Especially when combined with the Great White, it's an iconic combination. The Dark Side of the Moon starts just below the Rothorn cable car mountain station and leads through the eponymous stone desert down to the avalanche barrier and over to Gredigs Fürggli. The trail's "red" rating on Trailforks is fitting. Along the way, the occasional rock roll or natural wall ride offers the opportunity to spice up the trail experience a bit. This part of the trail is only recommended for e-bikes as it is too flat and has over 200m of ascent, which drains the last bit of strength from your legs. My conclusion: the longest trail in Switzerland is a pointless piece of hiking trails, it has nothing to do with a real trail.

Coming from the Weisfluhjoch via the rock path, the approach from the Strelapass is a physical challenge and the climb is not rideable all the way - at least without a motor. But you ride up a beautiful single trail through high alpine landscape. And from the Chörbschhornhütte you are rewarded with magnificent views and almost never-ending trail fun. There are two ways to reach the Parpaner Rothorn: either by taking the cable car or by embarking on a challenging and strenuous hike. If you choose the latter option, you'll need sturdy footwear. Surefootedness and a head for heights are also beneficial on the ascent, ensuring you reach the summit safely. Next to the cable car station, there's also a panoramic restaurant where you can recharge with fine dining after a strenuous hike.

Climb from Davos on gravel and asphalt roads with almost no traffic. Big hustle and bustle at the top (mountain railway), then quieter again towards Aebirügg. At the start of the Epic Trail on Aebirügg there is a large picnic area with a fireplace, tables and benches (and people). Starting point for some beautiful trails, almost all S2.
