At the moment it is simply wonderful to walk along the narrow path in the Christenberg valley floor amidst flowering heather and to marvel at the moorland landscapes with their unique vegetation right next to it. The dragonflies, butterflies and birds... fly in these summer temperatures and the peace and quiet is simply wonderful.

The Ederstede in Waldeck-Frankenberg is a natural monument that provides an insight into the history of the earth. The rock formation, also known as Klingelstede, shows rock layers from the Zechstein and Buntsandstein ages. That was about 245 million years ago. It was formed by the Eder flowing past it. Several hiking trails lead past it, including the Ederhöhenweg and the Burgwaldpfad.

The Christenberg valley floor in the southern Hesse Burgwald is characterized by its diverse flora and fauna. The Burgwald is one of the largest contiguous forest areas in Hesse. The landscape of the nature reserve is primarily characterized by its species-rich population of deciduous trees. Extensive wetlands can also be found here. Rare plants such as the medium sundew, the bog lily and the narrow-leaved cottongrass grow here. The moors also provide an important habitat for insects such as dragonflies and spiders, but also for reptiles such as the wood lizard.

At this point - directly on the Eder - you can settle down comfortably in a shelter or a group of banks. Very nice place! There is a group of rocks just a few meters away. Nice, but not THAT spectacular.

French meadows provide a habitat for many animal species and are under nature protection. In summer the purest frog concert. A very nice place but the only thing missing is a seat, which is a shame.

Unique in this area. Is really something special. Diverse flora and fauna.
