In the northern Black Forest, the Bunter sandstone geological formation is by far the most widespread and dominant parent rock for soil formation. The Bunter sandstone layers are in some places several hundred meters thick and were formed approximately 200-230 million years ago.

Here the cycle and footpath runs under the road.

The cycle path winds its way through the narrow valley in endless loops on beautiful gravel.

Directly behind Pforzheim, the Würm Cycle Path plunges into dense forest, and apart from the town of Würm, there's not the slightest trace of civilization for miles. It's more up and down than along the Nagold River, but it's a beautiful green hell.

The tower is cordoned off and inaccessible. The last renovation was in 1984. I assume that after more than 40 years, it's time for a thorough inspection of the tower and its 125 steps leading to the viewing platform.

Several interestingly carved trees contain information about the protected forest, the primeval forest of the day after tomorrow. If you take the nearby paths through the protected forest, you'll immediately notice the difference from managed forest areas.
