This rest area lookout point is a particularly road-bike-friendly way to see some of the Rieselfelder's magnificent landscape and birdlife, as it's located directly on a paved road that's easy to ride on. The Rieselfelder's 12-meter-high observation tower on the opposite side of the large reservoir, with its even better views, can only be reached by taking a short, unpaved path.

This rest area with benches and tables is located on a small hill and is referred to as "Feldherrnhügel" (Field Marshal's Hill) in an information brochure from the Rieselfelder Münster Biological Station. Due to its slightly elevated position, it offers a good view of the Rieselfelder's large reservoir.

Great route along the Werse through the middle of the forest

The journey from the south along the Werse is a pleasure and you will be rewarded with a cool wheat beer at Stapelskotten. (Please note: self-service outside! In good weather there can be long waiting times as the catering is not well organised.)

The Auwald Stapelskotten is a nature reserve in Münster and you drive "Links der Werse" on a beautiful bike / hiking trail through nature.
