Pretty chill hike no hikers

Nice viewpoint along the Appalachian Trail. It's a great place to take a break during the hike to sit on the rocks and enjoy the wonderful vista.

Moderately challenging section of the Appalachian Trail that runs through Shenandoah National Park. At this point, the trail runs along the ridge of the mountain and at times, there are great views of the valley below.

This lookout point has an interesting granodiorite formation underfoot. That is literally the bedrock of the Blue Ridge Mountains, originally formed miles beneath the earth's surface. When you look out to the southeast you'll also see Buck Ridge first, then Hazel Mountain in the distance.

This point overlooks to the southeast onto the Piedmont region, Jenkins Mountain, and Keyser Mountain. This area was owned by John Marshall, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1801 to 1835, and thus received its name from him.

There are a couple different routes popular for reaching the summit of Pass Mountain, both of which utilize the Appalachian Trail. The top of the mountain is covered in some pretty dense foliage, but you can get some great views in the fall and winter months when the leaves fall off this 3,052-foot mountain and the trees become more bare.
