Standard orchards are no longer common. They can still be admired on the Bredius Estate. There are two large orchards and several smaller ones with old apple varieties, such as the Goudrenet and the Notarisapple, and old pear varieties, such as the Saint-Rémy and the Legipont. The oldest fruit trees are over 100 years old. Originally, there were over four hundred fruit trees on the estate, spread across sixteen orchards. The estate now has 370 fruit trees.

Very beautiful nature reserve with sometimes endless hiking trails, you have to be able to handle it.

Willeskop is a hamlet that lies partly in the municipality of Montfoort and partly in the municipality of Oudewater in the Dutch province of Utrecht and consists of a number of farms and houses along the N228. The place is located in the Lopikerwaard polder and was an independent municipality from 1818 to 1989.

A very nice and beautiful environment with a beautiful history.

In earlier centuries, the knight's court town of Schalkwijk was located on the Tetwijkseweg. The castle itself was demolished about 200 years ago, but the moats have been preserved. In addition to the old castle grounds, the Garden of Jonkheer Ram can always be visited. The garden is based on prints of the Ridderhofstad Schalkwijk showing a garden. The current garden is named after a prominent 17th century resident of the former castle, Jonkheer Ram. The garden is a reconstruction based on a medieval example with various flower beds, intermediate paths, trees, water feature and benches. Jonkheer Ram's garden is not just any garden, but a late medieval Renaissance garden. Ineke ter Haar is a work coach at Werk en Inkomen Lekstroom (WIL) and has been committed to preserving the garden for more than 10 years. Ter Haar: "The garden was laid out in 2009 by a gardener and contains special plants and flowers that were in the garden of Ram Castle at the time. We have 33 planters with around 100 different species. This can really be called unique.' The foundations of the castle are still underground. Reconstruction is not on the agenda. However, a steel construction has been made of the perimeter of the castle. The castle is best seen from the Garden of Jonkheer Ram. A model of the castle can be seen in Museum Dijkmagazijn De Heul (open on the last Sunday of the month).

There are several routes through this area. There 1 is a clog path. Very nice to walk.

Paths here are muddy, wear good shoes.

Beautiful piece of nature in peace! It can be muddy in certain parts, but with good shoes it is doable.
