These trees together form the ground plan of a cathedral in France. You can walk around and through them. There are information signs.

A new city needs a cathedral, Marinus Boezem thought. The artist sees the Gothic cathedral as the highlight of ‘a space structured by human ingenuity’, comparable to the construction of the polders of Flevoland on the bottom of the former Zuiderzee. In the meantime, there are those that form a cathedral. Walk through it. Walk around it and enjoy.

Since 1987 you can visit the work of art De Groene Kathedraal (English: "The Green Cathedral"), which was built on a polder. It is a landscape artwork by Marinus Boezem, for which 178 black poplars were planted in the shape of Reims Cathedral. The "Cathedral" is about 150 meters and about 75 meters wide. The fully grown poplars are about 30 meters high. This land art has become a popular venue for events of all kinds. But you can still visit the place at any time of the day. The visit can also be easily combined with a bike tour through the Almeerderhout forest district.
