An ancient sacrificial site, is a story telling place protected by the Antiquities Act. There is a crack in middle of the rock that has been filled with coins thrown there over the course of the last century. Uhrihalkema is connected with Annikki's story, often told at the site, where the girl sacrifices riches to the crack's earth spirit in order to regain her fortune. There are several signatures in the Uhrihalkeama rock cut by Finnish artists inspired by Karelianism in the 20th century. Uhrihalkeama is located at the northern end of the Koli hotel building.

The cavern is a 33-meter-long, Z-shaped fissure cave shrouded in mystery, is a natural marvel. A multi-step trail leads down to the cave from a roadside parking area. Explore at your own risk and discover the secrets of this enigmatic place. While cyclists can easily pedal to the stairs on a smooth singletrack, the final approach to the cave must be made on foot.

Embark on this ascent to reach the summit of Koli and be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Pielinen. The climb follows a smooth asphalt road. Once you've conquered the hill, treat yourself to refreshments at the services in Ylä-Koli or continue your adventure on foot to the iconic Ukko-Koli cliffs and marvel at the legendary Finnish landscape

The idyllic Petkeljärvi National Park is located in Ilomantsi – the most eastern community of Finland, close to the Russian border. You will find some lovely trails that take you through forests and along lakes and show you the history of the region. There is also a visitor center and a campground in the park.

The view of the seemingly endless forests is not quite as spectacular as the view in the opposite direction across the lake, but it is still rewarding.
