A 1 km cave trail branches off the main Kätkävaata nature trail at the steepest part of the hill and circles back. The trail includes over ten small caves. The largest cave, named Katedraali, has been described as one of the finest in Finland. Archaeological finds suggest the caves hosted some of Northern Finland’s earliest settlements.

The path is not maintained in winter. Therefore, it is advisable to go with snowshoes - especially if there was fresh snow overnight and the path has not been used for several days. I would walk it anti-clockwise - it is easier to walk.

The glacial potholes were formed during the Ice Age. An information board explains the process of creation. We were here in mid-June 2023 and unfortunately the holes were still filled with water. Later in the summer they are said to have dried up and it is said that you can then use ladders to descend into the 8-15m deep glacial potholes. Only then can you judge the depth. Nevertheless, the trip was also so interesting! At the parking lot there is a notice that you have to pay a voluntary entry fee of €7 per person. can pay via app.

Inhospitable landscape formed in the last ice age. On the mountain there is a lookout tower with a great view over southern Lapland and the neighboring nature reserve Pisavaaran.

14 potholes (Finn. hiidenkirnu) in a very small area. Visit at your own risk. You can visit them very well via stairs and ladders. The glacial potholes were formed in the last ice age 10,000 years ago. An exciting legend spins around this bizarre place.

There are several Potholes in this area as well es the biggest one from Finnland. Dayhut ist closed but toilets are available.
