Sammakkosuo nature trail in Pudasjärvi commune in northern Finland takes from the parking lot to a day hut and the adjacent bird watching tower. The trail is in the northern part of the Olvassuo nature reserve. Olvassuo is known for its extensive swamp complex. Apart from being a strict nature reserve, it is also a Ramsar wetland site. Sammakkosuo parking lot can be accessed by taking a 12 km stretch of dirt road from the Oulu-Kuusamo highway. The access road is in a fairly good condition (2025).

Mätäslampi is a small lake that features towards the start of the Rytivaara loop in Syöte National Park. The loop is around the 10-kilometre mark and features some elevation gain, making for a great training run.

At Lauttalampi you can rest at a lean-to shelter by a beautiful lake. Just behind you rises the esker, which was formed during ice age.

The Pytkynharju-esker is one of the prettiest spots in Syöte. The bike track follows the top of the esker, surrounded by clear watered lakes, several kilometres.

Nice little lake. Good place to observe nature, but suitable to swim. As the title says: please keep it clean. Leave not trace!
