8월 30, 2024, Elgåfossen Waterfall
Very big and beautiful watefall, at the border between Sweden and Norway. There is a small parking nearby (4, 5 cars max), which is above the waterfall. There is a sign going in the forest, and in 5min we reach the water. Many viewpoints from here. Then you can cross the bridge with the 2 country flags, and go down the path along the waterfall. Also many viewpoints from there. There is another bridge at the bottom, and it's possible to go back easily to the parking, without having to climb back next to the waterfall.

The Elgåfossen separates Sweden & Norway, the bridge unites them again 😉

My landlady recommended that I go to the waterfall when the weather is bad. Then a lot of water comes down...

The waterfall on the border between Sweden and Norway is definitely worth a visit, especially since the other large waterfalls in Sweden are further north.

Small gorge to walk through. Be careful, it could be slippery, it goes over stones

Elgafossen (or more precisely Elgåfossen or Elgaafossen in Norwegian and Älgafallet or Algafallet in Swedish) was a shared waterfall between Norway and Sweden. In fact, its watercourse on a tributary of the Enningdalsälven called Elja defined parts of the Swedish-Norwegian border.

Beautiful tour, to do well with a little sure-footedness and sturdy shoes. If it has rained heavily before, it can also get a bit dirty. For people with dogs, caution is advised, as the dogs can also easily injure themselves. I wouldn't recommend walking down the stairs with dogs. Otherwise great tour with a lot of wow effect.

The entire trail is highly recommended, the one with sure-footedness, one of us was in barefoot shoes 😅✌️

4월 6, 2023, Tanum Rock Carvings
Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994, the rock sites of Tanum are among the most accomplished artistic expressions of prehistoric art in Northern Europe. Very numerous and underlined in red to be more visible to ordinary mortals, these thousands of engravings are displayed on large slabs of granite. They are fascinating because they represent many scenes, but also many humans and animals. They were created at the beginning of the Bronze Age, more than 2000 years before Christ. These petroglyphs were discovered in the 17th century. Many sites around the museum are visible, and you can easily spend the day exploring.

Beautiful waterfall on the Norway/Sweden border. Right on Bohusleden. Part of Borgleden(Pilegrimsleden)

Ramsvikslandet is a magnificent stretch of the Bohuslän coast. Little visited, barren, often very stormy and especially in autumn a great place to observe migrating seabirds, sometimes in large numbers. Sturdy shoes and following the marked paths is an important recommendation. To the north there are points on the waterline that seem easy to reach at first, but to which it is very easy to get lost. Then climbing is announced. A longer tour is difficult for dogs, not least because of the leash requirement. Nevertheless, all in all GREAT!

The waterfall is close to the Bohusleden and is worth a detour.

7월 7, 2018, Tanum Rock Carvings
The rock carvings are from the Bronze Age, around 3000 years old and still very well preserved. For this reason, they have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. There is a kind of small museum with an attached shop. The rock carvings themselves are freely accessible and are between 500 and 800 meters apart. Houses from that time have been recreated in the outdoor area and events are held regularly.

The Kungklyftan gorge is an interesting hiking trail, as there are large rocks in the gorge, and at the end of the gorge there is a long stairway leading up to the cliffs, from where you can enjoy magnificent views over the bay, town and mountains Harbor has. Also up there are various walks, one ends in the residential area of Fjällbacka. Parts of the film Ronja, the robber's daughter, were shot in the gorge.

Grand open-air museum of Gothenburg University and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visits and guided tours are free and good due to these public subsidies. In the reconstructed Bronze Age village are always employees in contemporary clothing with interested children and adults archery, excavation or braiding. Also the coffee and the shop invite to visit.
