After the monastery was abolished in 1841, the castle was used as a residential and inn, for example as an air and whey health resort “zum Lindenhof” with baths for “primarily weak, anemic and hectic people in need of relaxation”. Just across the street from Hallwyl Castle, the historic mill is clearly visible. It is open to the public and shows, in a historically beautiful way, how flour was once made from grain here. The stream that rushes past here via the lake, then over the castle, flows openly through the Mühlhaus. Since visitors usually only pay full attention to the castle, the pretty mill next door is somewhat lost. For that reason and because it is part of the history of Hallwyl Castle, I have included this place as a highlight.
