On the high plateau of the monastery there is a rock trail that leads directly along the slope or the rocks of the slope. There are fantastic views along the route.

Very spectacular hike above the cliffs of Les Mees, with great views. However, good sure-footedness (sturdy shoes) and a head for heights are absolutely necessary!

We happened upon it and the tulips are just beginning to bloom. So best timing. Unfortunately also a highlight for all other tourists, so that the rush of cars is quite large!

This beautiful part of the trail strays slightly from the Durance and gives you a glimpse of the geological formation of the Mées penitents in the distance. The trail itself is very pleasant to walk.

Breathtaking views open up again and again from behind the Pénitents (the rock formation "The Penitents") and beyond that further across the valley of the Durance River. Difficult to walk, lots of rolling stones and a very narrow path directly on the mountain ridge. Sturdy hiking shoes, good surefootedness and a head for heights are strongly recommended!
