Don't miss the Loos-en-Gohelle slag heap, an astonishing and unusual spectacle. There are five hills made of coal waste, and this one is the highest, reaching 146 meters, the highest in Europe! More than 4000 years old, is the sole survivor of a gigantic megalithic complex, unfortunately dismantled in the 19th century. Originally, this set was made up of: – 4 dolmens, arranged in a diamond shape, linked together by avenues of raised stones and thus forming a sacred enclosure; – 2 galgals (the 1st 26 m long by 1.60 m high, the 2nd 50 m long by 2 m high) which delimited the whole to the North-West. https://www.fresnicourtledolmen.fr/le-dolmen/
