Located at 2,450 m above sea level, on a spectacular natural balcony overlooking the upper Valmalenco, with a direct view of Monte Disgrazia, the Italian-Swiss ridge, and many high peaks of the Rhaetian Alps. Reaching the refuge is a hike of medium difficulty: from the village of Chiareggio, it takes about 2.5 hours to climb (850 m of elevation gain), while from San Giuseppe it is slightly longer but with gentler gradients. The trail is well marked and offers increasingly expansive views as you ascend. Excellent cuisine featuring typical Valtellina dishes.

The Boval Hut is beautifully situated above the Morteratsch Glacier, offering spectacular views of the Bernina Range. Piz Palü, Piz Bernina with its Biancograt, and Piz Morteratsch are prominent features. The hut itself is cozy and, of course, also ideal as a base for glacier tours.

The owners of the Hahnensee mountain restaurant also rent out this hunting lodge. We might try it next time (with a hot tub 😉

Once at the top of the hut, it's pure enjoyment to enjoy a drink (prices are reasonable) and all the beauty surrounding you on the terrace! Especially the glacier and the peaks over 4,000 meters high!

Beautifully situated mountain lake above Sankt Moritz Bad. Since the lake can only be reached on foot, there are only a few tourists here.

Far away from civilization, the Chamanna Jenatsch is the highest SAC hut in Graubünden at 2,652 meters. The hut, first built in 1908 and extensively renovated in 1993, offers 78 beds. I am impressed by the hut's impressive mountain landscape and good infrastructure. Here you can recover from your exertions in the mountains. Both in winter and summer, the hut offers you everything your athlete's heart desires. The hut is very popular, I would highly recommend making a reservation. You can reach the hut by bike via challenging trails - you are guaranteed an alpine bike experience.
