The Lac du Salagou takes you into another world. Embedded by round hills and vineyards, the lake is relatively central in the Hérault department. The red earth always reminds me a little of Australia. It also creates great contrasts between the lake, the green vegetation and the blue sky. You can do great tours around the lake. With the touring bike it gets a bit impassable in some places, but you can reach cozy little bays where you can be all to yourself. Here and there messages appear along the way, which were laid out with small white stones on the red background. If you want, you can also leave a little message yourself. The white stones are mostly found on the roadside.

Quiet and relaxing place. Not possible to swim in the lake, but downstream of the dam there is a small pond with unsupervised swimming and picnic / barbecue tables.
