1 km south of Crégols, on the Causse de Limogne, the Igue de Crégols suddenly opens. With a diameter of about 80 meters for a maximum depth of about 40 meters, it pierces through the limestone.
These wells are aligned on a geological fold characterized by a layer of impermeable clay located under the outcropping limestone. Each well is built above a "cistern" dug into the rock. The wells are therefore independent of each other.
