This is "the normal route". You can also go via Miribel Lanchatre and St Guillaume and climb the pass from the other side. But it's longer and less enjoyable because of the changes in gradient.

Very poorly indicated but follow the paths though beautiful woodland.

the station is closed, but there are still small restaurants

the path that gives access to the waterfalls is in the shade, it is cool even in summer

I did it on gravel, climbing via the Aveillans hill (west), it was fine. Direct descent to Putteville, very limited at the beginning on gravel, much steeper but it was fine.
