After the restoration process of this space where sand and gravel were extracted... this large hole remained where the water is now stored naturally and which has formed this magnificent place that provides shelter to a good number of birds and other species. Both migratory and native.

The small rocky island can be visited on foot from Blanes Bay. There are all sorts of shops and restaurants all around. And actually: This is roughly where the border between Costa Brava (towards the northeast) and Costa del Maresme (towards the southwest) runs.

The mouth of the Tordera forms a natural delta thanks to the sediments carried by the river. After the Gloria storm in 2020 and thanks to the massive influx of sediments, the delta experienced the greatest growth in recent years, when a large sand bar formed that goes 300 meters into the sea and has created a huge inner lagoon. The Delta de la Tordera has been declared a Protected Natural Area, and is included in the Natura 2000 Network. The landscape of the delta shows mainly swampy vegetation and riparian forest, including reedbeds. You can also find numerous animal species, such as the leper pond turtle, the southern frog, the spur toad, the collared snake, or birds such as thrushes, gray herons, kingfishers and others.

The restoration of an old sand and gravel extraction site allowed the creation of this wetland, where you can observe a large number of birds and other living species that find a perfect refuge here.... Because it is a wide and flat track, it is also perfect for walking 👣 or cycling 🚲 for all audiences.

Sa Palomera is a large rock that enters the sea and separates the bay of Blanes, in the north, and Sabanell beach, in the south, within the municipality of Blanes. It is considered to be the starting point of the Costa Brava. Sa Palomera and the adjacent islets can be visited, as a viewpoint has been set up from which you can see a wide perspective of the town and the delta of the Tordera river that flows out some 2 kilometers below, following Sabanell beach. This rock is part of the setting for the renowned Blanes Fireworks Festival, which is held every summer as part of the patron saint festivities in honor of saints Santa Ana and San Joaquín (July 26). In front of this mound there is a metallic arch in the shape of an inverted "V" that symbolizes the door and welcomes the Costa Brava.
