The Monument to Alfonso XII is located in the Retiro Park in Madrid. This impressive architectural and sculptural ensemble was inaugurated in 1922 by the king's son, Alfonso XIII The monument, designed by architect José Grases Riera, includes an equestrian statue of King Alfonso XII in the centre, surrounded by a colonnade and numerous sculptures. The equestrian statue, made by Mariano Benlliure, is one of the most notable pieces.
