Eight white marble statues on a large artificial fountain. Made sometime around 1900, brought to York House Gardens in 1909.

Marble Hill House, former home of Henrietta Howard, mistress of King George II. The old Black Walnut at Marble Hill is said to have been planted by Henrietta Howard in the 1720s as part of her landscaping of the park.

(Slight diversion off the Capital Ring route, but worth it). Reached through a gate to the gardens. It’s a prehistoric burial mound. Henry VIII was supposed to have stood here in 1536 looking for a flare from the Tower of London which would confirm Anne Boleyn was executed leaving him free to Mary Lady Jane Seymour. Extensive view to Berkshire and Surry. You can see the dome of St Pauls 10 miles away on a clear day through the gap in the trees - quite a sight! As you decend - you can catch a glimpse of Twickenham Rugby Stadium.

The Diana fountain is the iconic image of Bushy Park. Installed here in 1713, the statue does not include the hunting dogs and bow that normally accompany a statue of the Roman goddess. The suggestion being, this isn't Diana at all, but the Greek water nymph Arethusa.

Nice spot to have a drink.
