One of a total of two birdwatching huts in this part of the nature reserve of the former sedimentation ponds of the Genappe sugar factory. This one offers by far the best view with a beautiful large pond. The lookout hut is accessible via a simple gate (everything else is fenced) and a few stairs. A wonderfully quiet place too and well maintained. The classic information boards with birds that you could observe are present. The surroundings are also beautiful with a lovely path that leads you to the access to the stairs to the hut and offers beautiful views since you are already at a height before you climb to the lookout hut.

This path, which you reach after a short, steep climb from the stream, leads you along an inaccessible nature reserve, where you literally walk above an old quarry and caves for a part. At a certain point you literally walk above the entrance to that underground quarry that you can also see below. Part of the path runs between the edge of the valley and fields and on another part you have the nature reserve instead of the fields that was given the name 'Réserve naturelle Natagora des Caves Paheau'. Natagora is the counterpart of Natuurpunt and the quarry and caves are therefore called the 'caves Paheau'.

The cobbled section is recognized as landscape heritage. The Oude Geldenaaksebaan leads from the hamlet of Bet past Mareveld southwards and changes into the Nieuwe Geldenaaksebaan towards Mollendaal. It is a mixed cobbled road constructed in half-brick bond with an alternation of porphyry, Petit Granit and Tiense quartzite. The cobbled road has a reasonably flat profile and was recently reconstructed and provided with sewerage and drainage channels. In a limited number of places, there are still kerbs in Petit Granit. The cobbled road is briefly interrupted and continues as an unpaved sunken road to change into a cobbled road again at the intersection with the Smisstraat. In the course of the 18th and 19th centuries, many previously unpaved connecting roads were cobbled to improve driving comfort. The Oude Geldenaaksebaan had lost its importance in the 19th century in favour of the road that passed through the centre of Bierbeek and was probably not paved until around the middle of the 20th century. The section of road that gave access to the Bergenhof reclamation farm was the first to be paved. The rest of the road only served as a loading road for the surrounding agricultural land and was only paved in the 1970s in function of the increasing development.
