Located on Monte della Chiesa (Strickberg in German), the first Stoneman checkpoint represents a popular destination for those who cycle in the area. Furthermore, it is the point where the climb towards the Cornetto di Confine ends.

If you use the 3 Zinnenbahn for the ascent, then my tip is to go over the Klammbachalm (the best Kaiserschmarren in the valley!) and then choose the hiking trail towards Negerdörfer. You then come out directly at the trailhead and save yourself the serpentines on the gravel road to get to the start.

Whether mtb, hiking or climbing, or mountaineering and maybe even a short walk followed by a picnic, the Prato Piazza Refuge offers its visitors endless opportunities and dreamlike panoramic views of the Three Peaks. They also offer something to mountain bikers: right outside the door of the refuge runs the route of the Dolomiti Super Bike, the most famous mountain bike race in the Alps.
