A few kilometers from the town of Alvito, among the mountains bordering Abruzzo, there is the so-called Fossa Maiura (815 m), a karst depression that almost forms a natural amphitheater: it is a gigantic sinkhole about 100 meters deep and about 3 km in circumference, in the shape of an inverted truncated cone with a perimeter of more than a kilometer. This is where the waters that feed the Fibreno originate.

The sense of wonder that this work gives thanks to its colors that, immersed in the woods, create a truly special sensation.

Every year an artist is invited to confront the Old-Grown Forests, recognized in 2017 as a UNESCO heritage site. Arteparco is a union between Art and Nature, which combines artistic beauty with unique and uncontaminated places such as the Park, an open-air museum where nature alone is the protagonist. The initiative is born from the collaboration between the Park Authority, the Municipality of Pescasseroli and PARCO1923 – a perfume brand inspired by the plants and flowers of the Park – and is carried out with the support of BMW Italia, which has always shown particular attention to the issues of sustainability and environmental protection, and Sky Arte, the in-depth television channel dedicated to culture and art. Partners of the project for the first time also GORE-TEX, a leading company in the creation of technologies for outdoor clothing, committed to ensuring a positive economic and social impact while respecting the environment, and the Woolrich Out Door Foundation, which is committed to protecting and safeguarding outdoor spaces for communities around the world. For the commitment to the enhancement of the territory demonstrated over the years by ARTEPARCO, the initiative enjoys the Patronage of the Ministry of Ecological Transition.

This peak (1776 m) is part of the Abruzzo group of the Marsicani Mountains and is located on the border of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park. From here it is possible to see Sora, the Lepini Mountains and the Sacco Valley.

The lake of Posta Fibreno or della Posta, a nature reserve, is one of the most beautiful, characteristic and unspoiled natural oases in all of central Italy. Included in the green Valle di Comino, this huge source of pure water, coming from the slopes of the nearby mountains of the Abruzzo National Park, gives life to the icy and clear Fibreno river. Singular peculiarities of the lake are the floating island and the ancient boat with a flat bottom. The small trout called "Carpione del Fibreno" (endemic) and the rare macrostigma trout find their natural habitat here. The lake has always been frequented by scuba divers or free diving and by birdwatching enthusiasts.

The nature reserve Lago di Posta Fibreno is a protected natural area located in the municipality of Posta Fibreno, in the province of Frosinone.
