The starting point is at the base of another climb, that of Madonna del Bosco, the maximum gradients are 8% but only for short stretches, otherwise it does not exceed 5/6%. The length is 1.4 km and at the top there is the iconic fountain. From this point you can choose whether to continue uphill (left on via San Sebastiano but harder) or, straight on the sweet and panoramic via Marieni to then have fun towards other branches that will not disappoint.

From the San Vigilio funicular exit, continue on the right, in a few minutes you will reach the gate of the castle park. Enter, go up the stairs inside the tower. At the top you can enjoy the 360° view of the whole of Bergamo in the shade of large trees.

In ancient times, Treviglio was surrounded by woods, now reduced to a few like the Bosco del Castagno. Ideal place for relaxation and learning, dedicated to Wangari Maathai, Nobel Peace Prize winner.

View of the Upper and Lower Town from San Vigilio from the terrace of the house adjacent to the last staircase leading to the top of the castle. Unique view because it is located from the side where the turret of the San Vigilio castle is closed to the public and is not fully visible in any other way from the castle. The terrace is generally not accessible, it was opened exceptionally for the Millegradini 2022.

The Church of San Vigilio was built at the beginning of the 8th century, after the alleged stay of the Trentino bishop on the hills of Bergamo. During the 1200s it was governed by the order of Dominican friars and subsequently in 1300 by the Order of the Humiliated, abolished in 1500. It was renovated in 1512 and with the interventions carried out during the 18th and 20th centuries, the panoramic terrace overlooking the Lower Town and the western hills was also created.
