The Duke of Modena Francesco IV d'Este commissioned the construction of the palace and the adjacent ducal park between 1830 and 1844 as his summer residence. The Ducal Park is truly magnificent. It is a pleasure to stroll along its paths and admire the centuries-old specimens of redwoods, beech and oak trees. But the real attraction is an imposing cedar of Lebanon, 30 meters high and with a circumference of six meters at the base, which is considered one of the monumental trees of Italy and known as the "pinone".

Bagni di Brandola, an ancient place located in the Rossena valley, that is an ancient source of sulphurous water, already known to the Etruscans and Romans. A mystical place known in ancient times as a source of water for pagan rites and beliefs. However, the notoriety of Brandola water is linked to the events of 1448, i.e. when the area was hit by a heavy epidemic that affected cattle. The inhabitants of the place soon realized that the animals that drank with the water from the spring were cured. The rumor that in Polinago there was a source of miraculous water spread very quickly. Queues and pilgrimages to this seemingly miraculous spring soon formed. The water was subsequently analyzed by the doctor Michele Savonarola who spoke in his treatise "De Balneis et Termis", even if its first medical curative use was used by Bartolomeo Accursini, who used it to heal some of his patients.
