Male Passo is an Apennine pass from which you can reach the top of Monte Cava to the north and the top of Monte San Rocco to the south. Despite its name, the place is really beautiful. In spring the meadows are completely covered with yellow flowers.

It is a mountain spring located near the village of Vallecupola, it is located at about 1100 meters above sea level and represents one of the main starting points for excursions to the summit of Monte Navegna (1508 m), the highest peak in the reserve.

On the border between the provinces of Rieti and that of L'Aquila is the mountain group of Monte Nuria whose peak reaches 1888 m above sea level.
