The Spinazzola bauxite quarry is a deposit found in Puglia in 1935 by the surveyor Luca Nanna and the accountant Paolo Cappiello, during their excursion in the Murgia area. The field was used from the 1950s until the end of the 1970s for the extraction of bauxite, a mineral made up of iron and aluminum oxides and hydroxides, useful for processing alumina which then leads to the final product, aluminum real.

On the road between Andria and Spinazzola, a short distance from the medieval castle of Garagnone, there is a place that was once the site of a very important bauxite mining activity, the rock from which aluminum can be obtained
