The quiet attraction in the Wildwald Vosswinkel is probably the Luerwald itself. This approximately 2,000 hectare area has been a European nature reserve for over twenty years and offers a surprising variety of native animal and plant species. Accordingly, you can discover this piece of nature on winding and natural paths. Patiently discovering owls, wild boars and deer is the top priority here. In addition to an adventure playground and playful nature experiences along the path, there is also a forest education program where children can explore the habitat of a centuries-old mixed forest. There is even an outdoor exit game on offer. Such a concept, which also pays attention to rest periods and opportunities for the animals to retreat, also requires financial resources. Therefore, a visit to the Wildwald costs an entrance fee. With an online ticket, you can also visit outside the opening hours of the ticket office. In the middle of the Lüerwald or Neheimer Stadtwald you suddenly find yourself on Potsdamer Platz. No, not in Berlin, but here in the Sauerland. The square was created at the beginning of the 2000s because the forest workers needed a place to unload the felled wood and so created an open space here. When the responsible forester saw this place, he is said to have shouted "it's bigger than Potsdamer Platz". And so the name has stuck.
