2002년 7월 13일부터 16일까지 비엔나를 방문한 아키히토 일본 천황과 미치코 황후의 국빈 방문을 계기로 황제 부부는 2002년 7월 14일 특별 요청에 따라 라이너 티어가르텐을 방문하여 산책을 즐겼습니다. 이 기념물은 2003년 9월 8일 당시 일본 대사였던 히로시 하시모토, 미하엘 하우플 시장, 하인리히 게르스트바흐 구청장이 제막했습니다.
