The Afritschteich is a protected biotope and is located on the edge of the Afritschwiese in the Hörndlwald. This part of the Vienna Woods was supposed to give way to a rehabilitation clinic, which thank God could be prevented due to the species-protected hermit beetle and the massive resistance of the population. You will find a memorial directly on the meadow!

A former children's pool was converted into a habitat for amphibians such as frogs and newts in 1997. This makes it an important part of Vienna's nature conservation program.
