This gravel path, once traveled by holiday pioneer Thomas Cook, served as a route for stagecoaches ascending this beautiful but remarkably steep valley. Although the era of stagecoaches has waned, enthusiasts now choose to travel this extraordinary route on foot or by bike. The trail offers a challenging but rewarding climb or an exhilarating descent, and best of all, it's suitable for gravel or XC biking, making it an ideal climb for all types of riders.

A wild mountain pass, located high above the village of Finhaut, below the peaks of Dent de Fenestral and Fontanabran. The pass itself is gentler than its counterparts in the region, with open pastures and grass all around, but still offers spectacular views and some exposure into the surrounding area. The pass is a great opportunity to glimpse the local flora and fauna while hiking the winding alpine trails that connect this pass.

11월 20, 2023, Lac d'Émosson
Despite its part in supplying the region's hydroelectric power, Lac d'Émosson is a beautiful and striking mountain lake, offering fantastic views and relatively easy access. From the dam you will have an incredible view of the Aiguille Verte, a mountain that seems to look different from every perspective. The surrounding area of the dam is a hotspot for dinosaur footprints, so be sure to look for them! I'm sure if you're lucky you might even find a few dinosaurs still walking around there.

If you want to reach the reservoir you have to climb the steep mountain road up to a 28% gradient, but at the top you will be rewarded with a great panorama.

Located at an altitude of 1925 m in a magnificent glacial cirque, the artificial lake of Salanfe is surrounded by the Dents-du-Midi, the Tour Salière and the Luisin. By bike, the easiest access is via the Van valley. The climb is very steep, but on a wide road (for a bike...) without technical difficulty. A friendly inn (https://salanfe.ch/fr/) welcomes hikers, walkers or cyclists in the summer.

Lac d'Emosson is the second largest reservoir in Switzerland after Lac des Dix (Grande Dixence). The 180m high arch dam holds a secret that is revealed every spring when the water level is low. There is a dam in the reservoir from the 1920s: the SBB Barberine dam. To get to Lac d'Emosson, you can either drive up by car or bus, or you can take a combination of three cable cars from the valley of "Le Châtelard" to the dam. Pure adventure 👌🏻 For the daring, there is a spectacular zip line or a dizzying climbing wall right next to the dam. Another attraction is the well-preserved footprints of 250-million-year-old archosaurs above Lac du Vieux Emosson, which is about a 2.5-hour walk from Lac d'Emosson.

Lac de Salanfe south of the Dents-du-Midi, also surrounded to the east, west and south by striking mountain ranges. The Salanfe River rises to the west at the Col de Susanfe and the lake is formed by impoundment to the east before flowing down into the Rhone Valley. To the west, in the lowlands, stretch green, damp depressions with arms of water. Around the lake and on the mountain slopes (especially in the north-east), great alpine flora ensures an incredible abundance of colors and flowers. At this point you can relax with a rest - with wonderful views all around!

6월 25, 2023, Dent de Valerette Summit
The climb from the Auberge de Chindonne has endless switchbacks up to the summit. But the view from the summit of the Rhone Valley and Lake Geneva and the mountains behind it is very beautiful and makes up for the exertion 👍🏻. There is a lot of space at the summit. On the other side towards the south you have the Dents du Midi without any disturbing mountains in front. Just the one, the Dent de Valère at 2267m🤷🏻♂️. The way there is along a beautiful ridge walk. From there there really is no mountain in between until you reach the Dents du Midi.
