The tour ends at the source of the stream you follow. However, about 100 meters further, following the path and a slight incline to the right, you reach a small plateau with a magnificent view. I would definitely recommend this extension. On the way back, you don't reach the lava cave, but rather Selvfallafoss. That's also very beautiful.

Just before a stream we can follow a gully up to the left. Here we not only follow thick rock formations of rhyolitic tuff, but also the partly intensely orange colored stream bed and some springs lined with deep green moss contribute to the beautiful nature experience.

The former island north of Stykkishólmur harbor used to be grazed by sheep. Nowadays you can climb it via a staircase and admire the 360° panorama including the lighthouse. Ideal for evening hours.

According to a legend, a wish comes true if you walk up the mountain silently, turn three times into a stone circle and walk down silently without looking back. Attention, the entrance fee is about 3€

A memorial stone to the accident of January 28, 1924, when the motor boat Blika capsized in a storm and six crew members lost their lives.

The legendary basalt hill is only 74 meters high, but offers a beautiful view of Helgafellsvatn, the mountains of Snæfellsnes and the archipelago of Breiðafjörður. At the foot of the mountain is the picturesque Helgafellskirkja with the grave of Guðrún Ósvifursdóttir. There is also a path that goes around the hill.
