A small natural thermal pool where the sea and the hot water meet. No changing rooms, no railings... just you, the fjord, and the steam. From the road, you're soaking in the picture-postcard views in just two minutes. A perfect plan if you're looking for peace and quiet without posing.

If you want to see puffins, you have to plan your visit carefully. The best times for us were morning and evening. Even with good weather, we didn't see any during the day.

Several hundred thousand seabirds can put on a hell of a spectacle. Even if chaos seems to reign, there is a certain order: kittiwakes breed at the bottom, razorbills and guillemots are above them, and puffins have the best spot at the top. In the summer months, the huge breeding area resembles a skyscraper for countless seabirds, which build their nests in the striking rocks, one floor at a time.

A beautiful 1.5 hour hike to a remote mountain lake. The trail starts at the back end of the Flókalundur campsite and is very well marked (red marker), you can park at the hotel down the road. The first third is very steep, then it goes moderately over the plateau to the lake. Highly recommended in summer, especially in the midnight sun.

In Birkimelur you can enjoy the warm water in a concrete pool and a natural-looking hot tub near the shore. Both places offer you a fantastic view of the surrounding nature. In good weather you can see the Snaefellsnes peninsula with the Snaefellsjökull glacier on the other side of the fjord.
