Beautiful and little-frequented summit with panoramic views

🕍 Built in 1693–94, presumably according to plans by the renowned architect Abraham II Dünz. Unfortunately, the construction was also financed with confiscated Anabaptist property from the region. In 1871, the hall church received a neo-Romanesque front tower with an octagonal spire and three bells, designed by the architect Jakob Merz. The tower stands out vividly from the masonry with its twin windows, round-arch friezes, and cornices. During the renovation in 1977, the Baroque interior was restored in the style of the sermon hall, with a simple wooden ceiling and grisaille painting by Christian Stucki, as well as the original baptismal font (Dünz).

Difficult ascent including easy climbing but at the top everything is forgotten, the effort was worth it, the view is amazing.

The Sigriswiler Rothorn (2,051 m) is an impressive vantage point high above Lake Thun ⛰️🌊. The ascent is mostly along the ridge and requires surefootedness and a head for heights ⚠️🥾 – caution is advised, especially in wet conditions. At the top, you'll be rewarded with a fantastic 360° panorama: views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, the Mittelland, and Lake Brienz and Lake Thun 🏔️👀 – ideal for a summit rest and impressive photos 📸. Equipment: Sturdy hiking boots, weather protection 🧥, provisions 🥪, water 💧. No food or drink options along the way. Recommendation: Set off early ⏰, and avoid the ridge in uncertain weather. An absolutely worthwhile summit for experienced hikers!

Anyone arriving by train after never having been to Spiez will be greeted with a breathtaking and unforgettable first glimpse of one of the most beautiful places in the Bernese Oberland. In and around Spiez, there are many more such magical spots, offering stunning panoramic views of Spiez Bay, the castle, Lake Thun, and the majestic mountains. Anyone who doesn't take a photo here must have lost their phone or camera.
