Beautiful route, mostly through the forest. Little traffic and moderate gradient if you come from the north.

Chasseradès is home to the Saint-Blaise church, a 12th century building. This Romanesque church is famous for its comb bell tower and its medieval frescoes. A historic place and an attraction for those who follow the Stevenson Trail or cross the Cévennes.

Please note that the application recommends a mountain bike path which is not one and which takes you through the bush to a small tributary of the Chassezac, to be avoided! And for the other paths, a good mountain bike is necessary because large stones and slope in perspective!

An alpine-esque descent, fast and winding, down to the lake below. On a clear day, it's a stunning view from the top of the shimmering lake waters and the surrounding hills. Admire the wallside artwork as you cross over the bridge into Villefort.

Constructed in the 12th century, this fortified village was the gateway to the Cévennes. Now fully restored, it's worth a walk around its narrow streets and it makes a nice spot to relax over a bite to eat.

A stunning 1,400-metre (4,590 ft) high ridge line gravel ride that has grand views on both sides on a clear day. It passes right under the peak of le Maure des Coufours. Be mindful that it can hold the snow up here with cold early morning temperatures in spring and autumn.

The Moure de la Gardille, which rises to 1,503m above sea level, is one of the peaks of the Margeride and therefore offers a magnificent panorama from Aubrac in the west to Vivarais in the northeast. Its orientation table facilitates the identification of the summits of its massifs.
