Sleeping in Burgdorf Castle? Yes, it's possible, and you can do so in the youth hostel. It's actually located in the castle itself! The rooms within the old walls have been skillfully designed in a modern style, creating a cozy atmosphere. There are various room sizes (double, family, four-, and six-bed rooms), a restaurant, and as a guest, you can even visit the castle museum for free. Burgdorf Castle is a nice destination for a picnic with a perfect view of Burgdorf, but you have to work for the view first!

Burgdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1175 and goes back to the Zähringer family. The beautiful old town and the castle on the rock spur cannot deny their relationship with Bern, Fribourg, Thun, but also Freiburg im Breisgau.

The Emmental Show Dairy is, as the word implies, a sight to behold. I think the various offerings are fantastic. The large playground, the kitchen/restaurant, the cheese trail, and even the dairy shop are all fantastic. They also sell the almost legendary farmer's ice creams. A fantastic experience and can easily be incorporated into various very beautiful Emmental tours.
