Can we sleep?

At the Col de la Griffoul, turn left coming from Brezons. A sign indicates whether the buron is open or closed. After 4 km on a motorable path in the mountain pastures amid magnificent views of the surrounding area, take a path on the right which indicates the buron. A meal at lunchtime or a drink during the day will be welcome. The view is superb in good weather. Discovery of the Granval cirque by continuing a few meters after the junction near the buron. There is a <viewpoint> sign.

PLEASE NOTE: Passing through this site in September 2023, access is now closed to the buron in good condition (sealed closure for hikers, surveillance camera, etc.). The only accessible buron has partially collapsed, the roof has collapsed as well as part of the walls, it simply provides shelter from the wind

The Meije Coste refuge is a former buron formerly used by cowherds going up to the summer pastures. It is now a mountain refuge at an altitude of 1450 metres for long-distance hikers and offers a magnificent panorama of the Alagnon valley and the Lioran.

The buron d'Eylac at 1,450 m, once used by cowherds on the mountain pastures, is now a resting place in the magnificent Impradine valley for long-distance hikers.

After overcoming the Puy Mary and a wonderful descent, the Auberge d`Aijean is halfway down the "downhill run" near Gandilhon, a beautifully renovated farmstead, very tastefully furnished, with a fantastic garden (unobstructed view up to Puy Mary and down into the valley) and a very good menu for dinner. We could safely store the bikes.

It is a stop where you can take water (brought to the site by volunteers) and see the internal architecture of an old buron. It is possible to spend the night at the Buron d'Eylac (dormitory or possibility of pitching the tent for a small financial contribution) in a magnificent setting, near the Puy Mary. During the winter, given the altitude (1,400 meters), access is only possible by snowshoes or cross-country skis from the Col de Serre (2.5 kilometers).
