Castelfranco is a town with a beautiful historic center with crenellated walls, unfortunately not passable. It is known for being the birthplace of the painter Giorgione, of whom it is possible to admire a palace altarpiece kept in the Cathedral.

Nice view on the plane. It's short uphill (50mt stones floor), but isn't ridable with a road/gravel bike. For roadies and gravellers it's a portage section, for sure (roadies, pay attention when walk on stones with stiff shoes). An MTB and a real good fitness are required to achieve the top of the hill.

Symbol of the city of Asolo, the Rocca is a solid military fortification that stands on the top of Monte Ricco (310m). It was built between the end of the 12th and the beginning of the 13th century by will of the Bishop of Treviso with the function of garrison for the city. Previous visits to the fortress can be dated from the 7th-8th century, when a Christian chapel was built on the hill with a mosaic floor preserved in the museum, but a copy of which is placed in situ. In the following centuries the area was used for the establishment of production structures and necropolises; in particular between the 10th and 12th centuries the sources mention this settlement as loco Bragida, a toponym of Lombard origin which came to indicate the countryside or peri-urban areas. The mighty structure, made of local stone, has crenellated walls approximately 15 m high and between 2.5 and 3.5 m thick. Inside are the tower, the remains of the round cistern-well for collecting rainwater and part of a small quadrangular cistern preceding the cistern-well. The fortress was abandoned after the 15th century and the structure was then used sporadically. There is news that Venice attempted to sell the fortress in 1650, but in extremis the city's pleas prevented this sale; in fact the fortress became an inalienable part of the monumental heritage of Asolo. From its stands it is possible to admire the entire surrounding landscape with a view that passes from the Dolomites to Venice. Opening: Saturday, Sunday and holidays: from April to October 10.00am-7.00pm; from November to March 10.00-17.00. July and August: 9.00-13.00/16.00-20.00

Asolo's old town is characterized by the fortress (Rocca) from the 12th century. In addition to it, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, the Villa Scotti-Pasini and the Castello della Regina Cornaro are among the city's main attractions. The remains of an amphitheater and an aqueduct date from Roman times. The mighty Rocca is 15 meters high and between 2.5 and 3.5 meters wide. The defensive structure was built towards the end of the 12th century. A previous building to the cathedral already existed in 969. The church took on its current shape in the middle of the 18th century. Inside you will find Lorenzo Lotto's famous painting “The Assumption of Mary”. The castle, with the clock tower visible from afar, was the seat of the city bailiffs of Venice from the middle of the 14th century. In 1489 it became the residence of Caterina Cornaro, wife of the King of Cyprus, whose name it still bears today. In 1798 the large Pretoria auditorium was converted into a theater.

What to see in Asolo: the old town, a place steeped in history and romanticism, enriched by the castle of Queen Cornaro and guarded by the castle, the emblem of the city over which she presides. It offers a breathtakingly beautiful view. Visit the city during one of the many events that offer a bit of everything from art to music to theater. The culinary delights are also not neglected with the sophisticated menus of the city's numerous restaurants and cafés. Before you leave Asolo, you should definitely try a glass of Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG and enjoy the typical snacks called cicchetti and other well-known local specialties such as oil, honey and the products of the hilly landscape around Asolo. Sport: Thanks to Asolo's ideal location, you can set out from the city center on numerous nature routes, including the “Passeggiata di San Martino”. If, on the other hand, you are looking for more relaxation, we recommend the 18-hole course of the Asolo Golf Club, which is picturesquely embedded in the green of the hilly landscape, not far from the city.

The Villa Barbaro, also called Villa Maser after the municipality of the same name, is located near the picturesque and beautiful small town of Asolo in Veneto. Andrea Palladio planned and built it between 1554 and 1558. It is considered a prime example of a Palladian country house. The villa is part of the UNESCO World Heritage (Villas Palladio). It is privately owned and can be visited during the specified opening times.

Asolo, around 40 kilometers from Treviso and 75 kilometers from Venice, is a wine-growing region. In particular, a quality Prosecco is produced here, the Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG. Since 2009 it has had a controlled, guaranteed designation of origin. Only Glera (85-100 percent) is permitted as a grape variety, with the addition of varieties such as Verdiso, Bianchetta trevigiana or Perera. The grapes must be grown in the Asolo area. Production and bottling must also take place here. The Prosecco is characterized by a straw yellow color, a fine, long-lasting bubble and an intense fruit aroma.
